DMU’s dean of the College of Health Sciences is retiring
Dr. Jodi Cahalan, Des Moines University’s Dean of the College of Health Sciences, plans to retire at the end of March, after more than 30 years of service with the university. Cahalan graduated from three of the university’s programs – physician assistant, health care administration and public health – and joined the physician assistant faculty of DMU in 1989. She was appointed as the PA program director in 1994, a position she held until 2005 when she assumed duties as dean of the College of Health Sciences. The physician assistant program transitioned from a bachelor’s degree to a master’s degree while she was director. The Master of Health Care Administration degree program has maintained accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education. The online Master of Public Health degree program earned the longest possible re-accreditation term of seven years from the Council on Education for Public Health.
