The Iowa Healthiest State Initiative announced the launch of a new online registration system for its Double Up Food Bucks program. For the first time, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program users in Iowa can enroll online at my doubleupiowa.org — eliminating the need to sign up in person at participating locations. This enhancement aims to increase accessibility and reduce the burden on local grocery stores and farmers markets that previously handled registration. “Our goal is to make the Double Up Food Bucks program as simple and accessible as possible for all eligible Iowans,” said Jami Haberl, executive director of the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative, in a news release. “This new online registration will streamline the process so more families can take advantage of this valuable resource.” SNAP users are automatically eligible for Double Up Food Bucks. For every dollar spent on produce, another dollar is matched in Double Up Food Bucks, up to $15 per day. The program is available at 90 locations throughout Iowa, including select Fareway and Hy-Vee grocery stores, farmers markets, farm stands, CSAs and co-ops. Visit www.DoubleUpIowa.com for a list of participating sites.
