The sixth annual Griff Gives Back pet food drive will begin Monday and run through April 24. This is Drake mascot Griff II’s first year at the helm of the effort to collect adult dog and cat food to benefit area pets in need through the Pet Project Midwest, a local pet food pantry serving the Des Moines area. Zippy Shell of Greater Des Moines has donated one of its containers for storage of the food as it arrives on campus. The container will be located in the Dial Center parking lot at the northeast corner of 25th Street and Carpenter Avenue. Last year’s project, hosted by now-retired mascot Griff I, generated more than 9,000 pounds for the Pet Project Midwest. There are multiple ways to contribute to the cause, including ordering food online, purchasing from local healthy pet market Bone-A-Patreat, and dropping food off at one of the satellite donation sites around town. See more information.
