DSM passenger activity up 14.1 percent in November
November passenger traffic at Des Moines International Airport was up 14.1 percent over November 2011, according to numbers released by the airport yesterday.
Year-to-date, passenger activity is up 8.9 percent compared with 2011. In fact, every month this year has exceeded 2011, and November was the highest year-over-year increase so far. Southwest Airlines Co. began service to the airport on Sept. 30.
Airport Executive Director Don Smithey told the Business Record last month that the numbers signal lower prices caused by Southwest providing an element of competition at the airport.
