DuPont gains admiration

Fortune magazine has named E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co., parent of Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc. in Johnston, one of the world's most admired companies.

Fortune magazine has named E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co., parent of Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc. in Johnston, one of the world’s most admired companies. DuPont said in a news release that it was the only company in its industry sector named to Fortune’s Top 50 “Most Admired Companies” list. Overall, DuPont moved up six spots to 43rd in 2011. Also making the list were Berkshire Hathaway Inc. of Omaha, Moline, Ill.-based Deere & Co. and Wells Fargo & Co. HNI Corp. of Muscatine was named a contender for the list, according to Fortune.
