E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. announced today a $3 million contribution to the Des Moines Botanical and Environmental Center to expand learning opportunities. The contribution, paid over three years, will help bring educational seminars and world-renowned speakers focused on the importance of clean water and the science of agriculture, the company said.

The contribution is part of a larger effort to revamp the Botanical Center, and DuPont said in a press release that the facility is expected to attract 140,000 annual visitors.

“We’re thrilled to have DuPont as the lead contributor in this campaign to renovate the botanical garden,” said Tom Urban, Botanical Center board member and campaign chair, in the release. “Their contribution will help us achieve our vision of bringing people, plants and water together while making the most of downtown green space.”
