Dwolla Corp., a Des Moines-based online, mobile and social payment platform, has been chosen as one of 63 financial innovations to be highlighted at the 2011 FinovateSpring, to be held Tuesday and Wednesday in San Francisco. During the two-day event, each company is given seven minutes to demonstrate a product or service in front of financial executives, venture capitalists, press, industry analysts, bloggers and “fintech” entrepreneurs. “This is a landmark achievement for us and one we’re really excited about,” Dwolla founder Ben Milne wrote on the Dwolla blog. The company’s payment platform, which charges retailers 25 cents per transaction, enables merchants to bypass credit card processors’  “swipe” fees. Milne plans to demonstrate Dwolla’s FiSynch feature, which allows financial institutions to integrate the payment platform into their existing systems. Dwolla also promises to announce “something entirely new” at the event, Milne said.
