The East Village will turn metered parking into temporary public parks on Sept. 16 as part of a global event. San Francisco art and design studio, Rebar, created PARK(ing) Day in 2005 to encourage people to rethink how streets are used. The event also focuses on urban green spaces and walkability. This is the second year the East Village will be taking part in the event. ISG Architecture Group, Jett and Monkey’s Dog Shoppe, Reclaimed and Raygun will work with Perficut and Boesen the Florist to create the mini parks. For more information, email Nathan Gruver.
