Economic Impact Awards presented

397 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and CultureThe Greater Des Moines Partnership and the Business Record presented the Economic Impact Awards Thursday night, recognizing companies that influence the local economy through job creation, capital investment and facility expansion.
The winners were:
– Casey’s General Stores Inc.: Casey’s completed a 74,000-square-foot office addition and remodeling of its store support center and distribution center in Ankeny.
– Dwolla: Dwolla opened a new 22,000-square-foot space downtown, with 35 added employees. Another 20 hires are expected this year.
– ESO: ESO’s Fire Division is located in the Des Moines Register’s old pressroom on Locust Street. The company employs 40 people in its completely renovated, 15,000-square-foot space — including the front end of a firetruck — with room to double the workforce in the coming years.
– Incotec: Incotec opened an Innovation Center in Urbandale, housing both research and development and commercial functions.
– John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group: John Deere ISG recently constructed a 134,000-square-foot facility in Urbandale, housing 800 full-time and contract employees. The staff applies technologies such as robotics, computer vision, AI and IoT to agricultural equipment that will help farmers. The $32.6 million investment took 11 months to build.
– Meredith Corp.: As a result of Meredith’s acquisition of Time Inc. in January 2018, the company relocated approximately 200 high-paying positions with full benefits from New York City to Des Moines, and hired new staff to fill these positions. The project included remodeling the current headquarters facility to accommodate this growth, resulting in an investment of nearly $21 million.
– Michael Foods: Michael Foods’ newest facility in Norwalk will serve as its 15th egg processing plant, primarily supporting higher production of egg patties, omelets, frittatas and other products. The initial footprint of the facility is 143,000 square feet, and the plant is expected to create between 130 and 170 new jobs.
– Microsoft: Microsoft has data centers in the metro that serve billions of customers around the world and rely on the area’s skilled workforce.
– Pella Corp.: The company added a 12,000-square-foot satellite office. The new office has allowed Pella to bolster recruitment and retention of team members while contributing to the Des Moines community.
– The Printer Inc. (TPI): TPI recently finished and opened a new headquarters in Des Moines. The facility is 80,000 square feet of space dedicated to the data programming and production of direct mail pieces for the casino industry.
