EMC Insurance reports gain in third-quarter income
EMC Insurance Group Inc. today reported operating income of 49 cents per share for the third quarter up from 24 cents per share for the third quarter of 2009. Operating income for the nine month ended Sept. 30, 2010, was $1.51 per share, compared with $1.58 per share for the same period in 2009. Net income, including realized investment gains and losses, totaled nearly $7.5 million for the third quarter, compared with slightly more than $5 million in the year-ago quarter.
