To celebrate its 100th anniversary, Des Moines-based EMC Insurance Cos. announced it has donated $100,000 to approximately 100 selected nonprofits in communities in its 42-state territory, and has launched a contest for those communities to compete for another $100,000 in grants. Approximately 100 of EMC’s top agencies chose one nonprofit organization in their communities to receive a $1,000 grant from the EMC Insurance Foundation, and those communities will now vote for which nonprofits, including 12 in Iowa, will receive four additional $25,000 grants.
