The tree-killing emerald ash borer has been confirmed in Adams and Adair counties, the state reported. More than a third of Iowa counties now have confirmed the pest, which kills ash trees by disrupting their food supply. The small green beetle has been found in all but northwest Iowa, and particularly in the southeastern counties. State foresters said it’s too late to treat your ash tree this season; wait until spring. Some cities are removing ash trees.
