Crews began work this week to remove Wells Fargo signage from the arena that will soon be named Casey’s Center.
The name change was announced last fall. Ankeny-based Casey’s General Stores was awarded naming rights for the 17,000-seat arena following about eight months of talks with Polk County and Oak View Group, operators of the Iowa Events Center, which includes the arena.
The move brings to an end a 20-year agreement with Wells Fargo. That agreement expires on June 30.
Sign removal and prep work at each signage location is expected to take about two weeks, followed by the installation of the new Casey’s Center signage across the arena’s exterior.
Casey’s is paying $18.3 million for naming rights to the arena.
