The Evelyn K. Davis Center and GreenState Credit Union are working together on multilingual financial education opportunities and services for Des Moines’ refugee and immigrant communities. Through the partnership, the Evelyn K. Davis Center’s Polk County Financial Empowerment Center will offer programs like Financial Fitness, Homeownership Workshops, and Small Business Boot Camps in Spanish, Swahili, Arabic, Karen and a fifth language to be decided based on community needs. “This partnership will help build on our already existing financial education program specifically to integrate our unbanked immigrant and refugee communities into the United States financial systems,” said Ahmed Agyeman, director of the Evelyn K Davis Center for Working Families at the Des Moines Area Community College Urban Campus.
