For instance, Maxine Waters, the Democratic chair of the House Financial Services Committee, is already asking the company to halt development of Libra until regulators can review it. Other regulators are highly concerned that Libra will be unable to abide by regulations in each country, which may conflict with other countries’ regulations. As some opinion columnists have pointed out, if Facebook wants to comply, it will have no choice but to track Libra payments despite claiming the coin will be governed independently of the main company.
