The reconfiguring of Merle Hay Mall will include a 13,904-square-foot sports bar and family entertainment center called Gameday that is set to open later this year in a space currently occupied by Jay’s CD and Hobby, which will move elsewhere in the mall.

Eric La Clair, former senior vice president of Granite City Food and Brewery, is the president and operator of Gameday. The venue will offer made-from-scratch food, signature cocktails, amusement and large-scale space for viewing sporting events.

Reggie Moultrie, former vice president of amusements with family entertainment operation Dave and Buster’s, is assisting in the setup and execution of Gameday entertainment, according to a release.

Mall ownership is plotting the transformation of the city’s first shopping center in the wake of the closings of Younkers and Sears department stores.

More retail news:
Two other retailers, both franchise operations, also are coming to Greater Des Moines. Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea will open April 20 at Jordan Creek Town Center. The franchise operation offers a “globally inspired menu featuring premium coffees, teas, pastries, sandwiches, salads, and more,” according to a release. YogaSix, which offers six low-impact and strength-building yoga classes, has signed an agreement to open three studios over the next few years in Greater Des Moines, according to a release.
