More than two months after Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds lifted a March emergency declaration allowing retailers to suspend can and bottle redemptions, the Fareway grocery chain says it plans to continue to reject returns for deposit despite risking criminal charges.

Kim Reynolds lifted a March emergency declaration allowing retailers to suspend can and bottle redemptions, the Fareway grocery chain says it plans to continue to reject returns for deposit despite risking criminal charges. A Fareway spokeswoman said accepting potentially contaminated containers inside stores during the COVID-19 pandemic poses great risk to employees and customers.
