FemCity Des Moines planning community investment event
FemCity Des Moines is seeking female business owners to apply to participate in an in-person, community funding event scheduled to take place later this year in West Des Moines.
The event, called Flourish, will be held Nov. 12 at The Hall in West Des Moines’ Valley Junction.
“We’re seeking innovative ideas that will spark, grow, or revamp a woman’s business — and, most importantly, ideas that people can get excited about. Helping women in business at a grassroots level has always been an exciting concept to FemCity Des Moines,” Emily Steele, president of FemCity Des Moines, said in a release.
Three finalists will be selected to present their idea at Flourish. Based on an in-person community vote, one finalist will earn the funds raised at the event to be used for her business.
“I’ve heard time and again from generous people I meet that they don’t have the ability to make high-dollar contributions, but they want to invest in small businesses,” said Morgan Baumert, vice president of FemCity Des Moines. “This is an opportunity to get the community directly involved in lifting up the female business owners in their own backyard.”
For full details about the application process, and to complete an application business owners can visit www.dsmflourish.com. The application window opened July 13 and will close end of day Sept. 4.
The public is invited to attend the event. Tickets are available to purchase online for $15 per person. All proceeds will go to the winning business owner.
