FemCity Des Moines announced last week the three finalists who will participate in the group’s inaugural community funding event, scheduled to take place next month in West Des Moines.

McKenna Haase, Talis Strub and Christina Rodriguez were selected to participate in Flourish, which will be held Nov. 12 at the Hall in West Des Moines’ Valley Junction. Based on an in-person community vote, one finalist will earn the funds raised at the event to be used for her business.

Haase, a 21-year-old professional race car driver, founded Compass Compass Racing Development in 2015. Compass is one of the few youth-based driver development programs in the nation that focus on the kids as individuals and their development both off and on the racetrack.

Rodriguez founded Live It Up Fit in 2017 with the dream of bringing the joy of movement, dance and expression to everyone by providing fun, safe and effective workouts for all ages and Zumba Fitness Training throughout the state of Iowa.

Strub co-founded MarryMyCity with Kaitlin Byers in 2016. MarryMyCity is a gift registry of local experiences for couples looking to collect memories instead of plates and fine china. They partner with local businesses to offer unique experiences that wedding goers can purchase conveniently from a couple’s online registry.

Flourish is presented with the Greater Des Moines Partnership. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased online
