Finance Authority approves housing trust fund grants
The Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) board of directors recently approved a total of more than $4.8 million in grants to 25 Local Housing Trust Funds, which will help to develop or preserve more than 1,500 affordable housing units throughout the state, the IFA said in a release. The grant funds will be used for initiatives such as subsidizing local down payment assistance programs and providing low-interest loans or grants to assist Iowans in home rehabilitation. The Polk County Housing Trust Fund received $525,640 for its owner-occupied housing repair program, which is expected to assist 350 low-income households. The Dallas County Local Housing Trust Fund Inc. received $155,412, which is expected to assist 17 families in renovating homes.
