Des Moines Register: Polk County’s former human resources chief has filed a scathing lawsuit alleging libel, extortion and wrongful termination — as well as violations of Iowa’s open meetings and records laws — against the county, county administrator and four of the five elected supervisors. Jim Nahas alleges in the lawsuit that after years of service he was forced to resign in January as part of a political vendetta. County Administrator John Norris said the county denies all of the lawsuit’s allegations but declined to comment further.
