Global food prices rose to a record in February, according to Bloomberg. An index of 55 food commodities rose 2.2 percent to 236 in February from 230.7 in January, according to the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization.

It is the eighth consecutive month of gain. Wheat rose as much as 58 percent on the Chicago Board of Trade in the past 12 months, corn gained 87 percent and rice gained only 6.5 percent, which the U.N. said is the only thing keeping the world from repeating the crisis of three years ago.
