Former Iowa Supreme Court justice finds work
Former Iowa Supreme Court Justice Michael Streit has joined the law firm of Ahlers & Cooney P.C. as of counsel in its litigation, dispute resolution and investigations practice area, the firm announced yesterday.
Streit was ousted from the Supreme Court last fall along with Marsha Ternus and David Baker after a campaign against them stemming from a controversial 2009 ruling that legalized same-sex marriage in the state.
Streit had served on the Iowa Supreme Court since 2001, and before that was appointed to the court of appeals in 1996 by Gov. Terry Branstad, where he wrote more than 600 decisions.
