The Des Moines Downtown Chamber of Commerce and the Des Moines Police Department will offer area businesses training on how to deal with an active shooter in the workplace. The workshop is noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Wellmark YMCA. The workshop, conducted by Metro Special Tactics and Response, will address emergency situations involving an active shooter at a business and provide attendees with safety tips and information on how to reduce and prevent casualties.
