Variety — the Children’s Charity granted $15,000 this year to Friends of Des Moines Parks in support of swim lesson scholarships to metro families, Friends of Des Moines announced today. The grant will support 600 children in swim lessons through the Des Moines Parks and Rec swim lesson program. Variety has granted $100,000 in the last 10 years to support the program, which enables low-income families and children learning English as a second language to participate in swim lessons.
