Gas prices have set yet another record and in this case, the third time doesn’t feel so charming. According to CNN, the motorist group AAA reported that the national price for a gallon of gasoline has risen for the third straight day in a row to its current national average, $4.092 a gallon.

The national average price for a gallon of gas rose five-tenths of a cent overnight, which tops yesterday’s record of $4.087 a gallon. This overnight increase leaves gas prices about three percent higher than last month and 38.5 percent higher than a year ago.

Alaska was reported as having the highest average gas price at $4.649 a gallon, with California trailing close behind with a state average of $4.578 a gallon. Hawaii has the third-highest state average at $4.446 a gallon.

A survey showed that diesel prices are on the rise as well. The national average for a gallon of diesel rose to $4.767 from $4.762 the day before. Hawaii was reported as having the highest average diesel price at $5.347.

In related news, auto sales have taken a sharp decline for the month of June. Unadjusted sales fell 18 percent, which was six percentage points higher than the 12-percent forecast from Edmunds.com.
