Pitney Bowes PSI, a division of Pitney Bowes Inc., is poised to lease a 78,000-square-foot space at Warehouse IV in Meredith Business Park, announcing today that it is expanding its operations in Urbandale.

The facility will be the 37th location in the company’s national mail-presort services network, with the ability to process up to 3 million pieces of first-class mail each day, said Jennifer Anderson, marketing director of Pitney Bowes’ mail services network, and the company anticipates a considerable increase in that capacity during the first year of operations.

Pitney Bowes PSI currently handles 14 billion pieces of mail per year.

Anderson said the company’s “mail exchange” service expedites parcels to their final destination, best serving customers from a “time delivery” and cost standpoint.

“We look forward to working with area customers and the Hawkeye District of the (U.S. Postal Service) by offering mail service solutions that can help our clients optimize deliverability and reduce postage costs and operational expenses,” said Jay Oxton, president of Pitney Bowes PSI, in a press release.

The expansion will create approximately 70 jobs, Anderson said, adding that a job fair is being planned for September.

Pitney Bowes Inc., based in Stamford, Conn., has $6.3 billion in annual revenue and 36,000 employees in 130 countries.
