A scholarship fund established at the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines will benefit high school and undergraduate students from Iowa who plan to attend Iowa community colleges, colleges or universities. Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds are supporting the plan, and during the governor’s inauguration, $700,000 was raised for the purpose of establishing the Branstad-Reynolds Scholarship Fund. Scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing a degree in agriculture- or health-related fields, as well as students who are children of service members who died while on active duty since 9/11. Those who qualify will be awarded a $30,000 scholarship, Branstad said in a release. For more information, click here and select “Branstad-Reynolds Scholarship Fund” from the dropdown menu.
