An enclosed shelter at the city of Des Moines’ Grandview Park will be dedicated in honor of former City Councilman Bob Mahaffey during a ceremony at noon on May 10. Mahaffey served the city for 24 years, first as a member of the Plan and Zoning Commission and from January 2004 to December 2015 as a member of the City Council, representing Ward 2 on the city’s northeast side. Mahaffey is vice president and treasurer at Anderson Erickson Dairy Co. He has represented the city on the boards of Aging Resources of Central Iowa, the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines (now called Des Moines Performing Arts), the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority, the Four Mile Creek Watershed Authority and Multiple Education Pathways Blueprint.
