Groupon to launch location-based mobile product
Groupon Inc., the Chicago-based company that partners with merchants to offer subscribers deal-of-the-day discounts in major cities, is preparing to roll out a location-based mobile product, Crain’s Chicago Business reported. As more subscribers use mobile devices to sign up for Groupon deals, the company plans to begin offering deals based on subscribers’ proximity to retailers as they move around the city, the newspaper said, citing an unidentified source. Currently, Groupon e-mails deals once a day to subscribers based on where they live.
