Grow Solar Warren County has reached its second benchmark goal of 100 kilowatts, organizers announced in a news release. The group purchasing program was launched in July. It emphasizes solar education and volume purchasing to make solar energy more affordable for homeowners and businesses. Because of the response, the program’s pricing has fallen below its already lower than market rate, and pricing will continue to drop if the program reaches a 200-kW goal, the release states. Steve Gray of Indianola is a participant in the program, and he said he’s looking forward to seeing solar arrays installed across the county. “This is a very good thing to do both for our own financial savings over the years but also for the positive impact it will have on the environment,” Gray said in the release. The program is coordinated by the Midwest Renewable Energy Association, the Nature Conservancy in Iowa, with support from the Warren County Economic Development Corp., the city of Indianola, and the city of Carlisle. Residents and businesses have until Oct. 16 to sign up for the program at reduced pricing. More information about Grow Solar Warren County can be found here.
