Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity announced its “It Starts at Home” capital campaign on Tuesday with a groundbreaking ceremony at its future location, 2200 E. Euclid Ave.

The 36,000-square- foot renovated facility is scheduled to open in November. The campaign has a goal of raising $5.75 million, $3.36 million of which has been raised by the campaign cabinet.

Part of the campaign’s purpose is to build and rehabilitate 25 homes, in addition to the 110 already planned in the next five years, as well as purchase enough lots to create a land bank that will allow the organization to strategically schedule revitalization.
