Health care centers receive $6.9 million in federal funds
Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell on Tuesday announced $6.9 million in Affordable Care Act funding to support health centers in Iowa in providing primary care services. The awards include $3.9 million for 14 health centers to increase access to services such as medical, oral, behavioral, pharmacy and vision care. Additionally, $1 million will be awarded to each of three health centers in Cedar Rapids, Fort Dodge and Leon for facility renovation, expansion or construction to increase patient or service capacity. Nationally, 1,184 health centers will receive approximately $350 million to increase access to services, and nearly $150 million will be awarded to 160 health centers nationwide for facility renovation, expansion, or construction.
