The city of Des Moines will hold a citywide walk event on Oct. 5 as part of the Healthiest State Initiative’s annual walk. In order to involve businesses and organizations from the Capitol to the Western Gateway, the downtown Des Moines walk will feature two concurrent walks — one originating at the sculpture park in the Western Gateway and one from the steps of the state Capitol. They will converge at the World Food Prize Hall of Laureates. The Healthiest State Initiative and this year’s presenting annual walk sponsor, Delta Dental of Iowa, have the goal to have an organized walk in all 99 Iowa counties.
