Healthways Inc. has opened a new 19,000-square-foot medical office in the Capital Square office building in downtown Des Moines.

The Nashville-based healthcare company will bring 65 new jobs to downtown, 45 of which are positions for registered nurses. The office opened Jan. 2.

Rich Mussler, senior vice president of the Des Moines location, said it will provide wellness and care support services for members of Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield insurance plans.

This is the first Iowa office for Healthways, which plans on expanding it in a few years.
