Hearing Thursday for IPL Marshalltown power plant
The Iowa Utilities Board will hold a public information meeting Thursday during which Interstate Power and Light Co. (IPL) officials will discuss plans for a proposed 650-megawatt natural gas-fired electric generation facility in Marshall County.
The 6 p.m. meeting is at the Regency Inn Best Western, 3303 S. Center St. in Marshalltown.
Once this informational meeting is held, IPL may file a petition with the utilities board seeking authority to proceed with building the proposed power plant. The company expects to invest between $650 million and $750 million in the plant, which would go into operation by mid-2017.
Information filed in the dockets will be posted online by the utilities board.
