Home builder cuts profit margin for those who ‘serve and protect’
A Grimes home builder is offering to construct new homes at cost for firefighters, law enforcement officers, school teachers and administrators, and active service members in the U.S. military.
Bill Spencer, president of Showcase Builders, said his company recently started construction on the first house under the company’s “Protect, Educate and Serve” program. He estimated that the owners will save about $60,000 by eliminating a profit margin.
Under the plan, qualified buyers can obtain financing with no closing costs or origination fees.
The program is limited to homes constructed in Polk, Dallas, Warren, Madison and Story counties. Participants must live in the home and qualify for financing.
