Hubbell Realty Co. paid $18.9 million for two Urbandale apartment complexes, the company’s first large multifamily acquisitions since 2007, when it bought about 1,600 units in Greater Des Moines and Sioux Falls, S.D., from Clarke Co. Ltd., a deal that put Hubbell squarely into the business or owning, managing and developing apartment communities. The recent deal was for the Candle Ridge and Parkway apartment complexes in Urbandale. When the deal was announced, the purchase price was not disclosed. According to Polk County land records that were filed Thursday, Hubbell paid $10.5 million for Candle Ridge and $8.4 million for Parkway. The apartments were owned by an investment group in Minnesota. The group also sold two Sioux Falls complexes to Hubbell.
