HUD funds intended to promote financial literacy
A total of $1,034,954 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will benefit a number of Iowa agencies focused on helping families to increase their earning potential and reduce or eliminate their need for welfare assistance, Sen. Tom Harkin announced Thursday. The Des Moines Municipal Housing Agency, the Central Iowa Regional Housing Authority and the Mid-Iowa Regional Housing Authority are among the 13 agencies slated to receive grants, which are being funded by the HUD Housing Choice Voucher-Family Self Sufficiency Program.
