The Iowa Chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America will host the Des Moines Team Hope Walk on May 22 at 8:30 a.m. at Raccoon River Park in West Des Moines, along with a virtual component. All proceeds support HDSA’s mission to improve the lives of people affected by Huntington’s disease and their families. Team Hope is HDSA’s largest national grassroots fundraising event, which takes place in over 100 cities across the U.S. and has raised more than $14 million for HD since its inception in 2007. “Whether our families are walking virtually or in person, one thing we want them to know is that they are not alone in this fight,” said Camille Colletti, HDSA’s upper Great Lakes regional development officer. “While HD might be rare, there are other families and friends here to support you within your very own community.” For more information about the event, contact Andrea Bauer at andreambauer80@gmail.com or 515-720-7561. Online registration and donation information can be found at hdsa.org/thwdesmoines.
