The Statesman checked in with David Maahs, executive vice president of economic development of the Greater Des Moines Partnership. Des Moines is about the same size as Boise, Idaho. Iowa added tax breaks for data centers in 2009. Maahs mentioned that Microsoft is now Polk County’s top payer of property taxes.
