IEDA announces awards to six communities for sewer and water improvements

133 wordsAll Latest News, Economic Development, EnergyThe Iowa Economic Development Authority has awarded more than $2.2 million to improve water and sewer infrastructure in six Iowa communities. According to a news release, the awards were made through the Community Development Block Grant Program, which are funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered by IEDA. The funds, announced Thursday, allow communities to make improvements to their water and sewer systems, improve housing for low-income individuals, provide facilities for at-risk residents and those with disabilities, and make improvements to their downtown areas. The communities to receive awards include:
- Clinton, $600,000 for sanitary sewer improvements
- Guthrie Center, $500,000 for water main installation
- Hartley, $500,000 for sanitary sewer improvements
- Henderson, $185,000 for water system improvements
- Inwood, $300,000 for water system improvements
- Thor, $186,000 for water treatment improvements
