The board also approved tax credits for a planned movie complex at the Fifth in downtown Des Moines.

Iowa Spring Manufacturing & Sales Co. of Adel plans a 12,000-square-foot addition to its facility that manufactures round wire coiled steel springs for agricultural, garage door, material handling and railcar purposes. The board approved a $50,550 tax refund for the $3.1 million project.

CellSite Solutions to expand in Cedar Rapids
Telecom company CellSite Solutions LLC plans a 60,000-square-foot facility for office space, equipment warehousing and maintenance. The board awarded $220,000 in tax credits and refunds for the $6.3 million project, expected to create 14 jobs.

Custom metal fabrication shop to locate in Harrison County
Midwest Mechanical Industrial Holdings LLC plans a custom metal fabrication shop. The state will provide $167,000 in tax credits and refunds for the $2.7 million project, expected to add 18 jobs.

Court Avenue movie complex aid approved
Also Friday, the board approved a tax credit of up to $800,000 for a five-story commercial building that is part of a $200 million downtown Des Moines project that includes a 40-story high-rise and parking garage. Developer Justin Mandelbaum is in negotiations with the Austin-based Alamo Drafthouse Cinema to anchor the commercial development that would be located at Fifth and Court avenues. Mandelbaum has said the tax credit is needed for the project to be financially feasible.

The tax credit is from the state’s Redevelopment Tax Credit Program, which provides financial assistance for the acquisition, remediation and redevelopment of eligible brownfield and grayfield sites.
