IEDA awards grants, loans to BirdDogHR, 1Comm Medical Inc., others

The Iowa Economic Development Authority board on Friday backed a handful of startups with grants and loans. 1Comm Medical Inc. of Ankeny, which is designing software that will allow health care providers to shift patients to remote monitoring solutions, received a $300,000 loan. BirdDogHR of Des Moines, which offers a cloud-based solution for recruiting and applicant tracking, also got a $300,000 loan. The board approved a $25,000 grant to BOGO Bowl of Des Moines, which is looking to prove the commercial viability of a single-serving pet food line to be offered at convenience stores. ClinicNote, which has worked with the Global Insurance Accelerator, got a $25,000 proof of commercial relevance grant for its medical note-taking software development. Fastpath of Urbandale received a $300,000 loan to enhance and market its technology designed to automate audit processes. Read more
