IFA backs homeless shelters
The Iowa Finance Authority has awarded $730,680 to 16 homeless and domestic violence shelters to help with operations. The funding is made available through the state-funded Shelter Assistance Fund program. Recipients from Greater Des Moines included Beacon of Life, $38,000; Catholic Council for Social Concern, Inc., $50,000; Family Promise of Greater Des Moines, $20,000; and Youth Emergency Services & Shelter, $50,000. In Ames: Shelter Housing Corp., $49,375.
