Iowa Insurance Commissioner Susan Voss issued a bulletin yesterday directing businesses to take special measures in the conduct of their business for Iowans affected by floods and severe storms. The bulletin instructs insurers to forgo normal limits on coverage for personal property that is not on the normal insured site, given that property may have been moved in anticipation of flooding. The bulletin also says companies must allow deferred payments of insurance premiums, knowing that paperwork could get lost during an evacuation. It also directs companies to allow refills of lost prescription medicine.
