International demand for Iowa ag products remains strong
Iowa remains the No. 2 state for agriculture exports, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey said today, citing a report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. “International demand remains strong, and our corn, soybeans and meat products have a great reputation around that world,” he said in a news release. Iowa exported $7.04 billion worth of agricultural products in 2010, up from $6.55 billion in 2009. The leading exports were soybeans and soybean products, at $3.29 billion in 2010. Other agriculture exports included feeds and fodders, $172.1 million, poultry and products, $66.8 million, dairy products, $59 million, hides and skins, $56.1 million, and fats, oils and greases, $44.4 million.
