The Iowa Architectural Foundation has named EMC Insurance Cos. and Mainframe Studios as recipients of its 2025 Community Enhancement Awards, which recognize organizations outside the architectural field whose investments improve the quality of life in Iowa communities. EMC Insurance received the Community Enhancement through Architecture and Design Award for its downtown Des Moines projects, including corporate headquarters improvements, skywalk connections and the creation of EMC Downtown Park. Mainframe Studios earned the Community Enhancement through Historic Vitalization Award for repurposing a former Brutalist building into the nonprofit’s creative workspace, now home to more than 200 artists.
