The grant was awarded through the federal Charter Schools Program. Iowa was one of six states to receive the grant in 2025. The funding will be used to help expand the number and reach of Iowa’s tuition-free charter schools. The state currently has 10 charter schools in operation, with six more approved to open over the next two years, a news release said. The federal grant also follows a $7 million state grant announced last year to support infrastructure costs. To read more about new Des Moines charter school Des Moines Prep, click here.
