Iowa Donor Network has announced Philip Blumberg as the organization’s new CEO. Blumberg will take over in mid-October, following Suzanne Conrad’s 28 years in the role. Blumberg’s most recent role was chief clinic administrative officer at Des Moines University, where he has worked since 2012. As a member of the executive leadership team for the university, Blumberg oversaw the multispecialty Des Moines University Clinic, leading growth of the clinic from one location to three locations across Des Moines and West Des Moines and expansion of specialty services
to include behavioral health and sports performance. “As a nearly life-long Iowan, I understand the deep sense of community and generosity that help drive our mission,” Blumberg said in a prepared statement. “It’s humbling to be trusted with this role and lead such an excellent team of compassionate professionals. I am grateful to the board of directors for their confidence in me, and I am deeply committed to advancing our work to transform lives through organ and tissue donation.” Blumberg holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in health administration. He is a past Business Record Forty Under 40 honoree. Iowa Donor Network, based in Altoona, is one of 55 federally certified nonprofits that make up the nation’s organ donation network. The organization connects organ and tissue donors, health care professionals, community partners, donor families, and those awaiting transplant.
